Leg to Yellowstone

Andy has to send in paperwork on importing the motorhome into Canada 72 hours in advance. We are held up until that is done.

Looking at the routes we could take and in consideration of Barbie-mobile's ability to climb mountains we are going to take the Idaho Falls route. This will place our approach to Yellowstone from the South.

There was this shop as we left Idaho Falls. I thought their sign funny. After getting on our way we ran into road construction.  They placed the barrels past the center line so that we hit one of the barrels. Poor Barbie got her steps bent just abit. They still work.

The drive into Jackson and thus into
The Grand Tetons began.

Bryce to Salt Lake, Utah or Our Mystical Start

As we were studying the maps, etc., Andy saw a spot called Mystic Springs.

With due diligence, I did a search of hot springs in Utah. Sure enough, there was Mystic Springs listed with a very lovely write up. Since it was basically along our way we decided to check it out.

The little town was clean, nestled in hills surrounding it. We turned onto the road leading to Mystic Springs and the mystic just have lost it's magic. The neighborhood became more and more sketchy. Roads became more steep with lots of pea gravel.
There was no way we could get into the place. As it was we had to unhook the car, back the motorhome around, rehitch the car and go down the road. A little disappointed but it was an adventure.

Beautiful state, Utah. Only one ugly city so far - Provo/Salt Lake. The dust from the mines, car pollution, etc., makes it almost impossible to see. Everything looks dirty.

It may just be a case of 'wrong time' of year or circumstances. I am not impressed with Utah's cities.

Bryce Canyon NP

Bryce was fun.  The drive from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon was pleasant and not too long.

As we were driving in the park to Sunrise Pointing, we saw antelope. This was really a surprise. I thought they were a little bit larger.

We then went to Sunset Point deciding to take Navajo Loop hike of 1.6 miles. Going down is much easier than going up. Just tells me I need to get back in shape; because   'some people' had to run the last 200 feet uphill. Andy was showing off. (Snicker)

Out of Touch

When we left Sedona going to the Grand Canyon, we lost internet and cell connections. There is a lot to catch up.

Its called the Grand Canyon for good reason. It takes your breath.

Bonus:  maybe mid 80's during the day, low 50's at night.  Wonderful.

I do apologize for the pics not in vertical orientation.

We left the next day heading to Bryce Canyon National Park.

As we were leaving the park, we saw in the distance buffalo. It was so strange to think of leaving the Grand Canyon, to find buffalo on the Alpine meadows that surround the entrance to the park. It was totally unexpected and cool.

Sedona and Jerome

The country side between Sedona and Jerome is amazing.

The ascent to Jerome was just that. We climbed 2000 in about 20 minutes. My Southern lizard head was spinning.

Jerome is a bikers town with an artist problem. Funny, I did not take one picture of the town - just the ascent and descent.

We would never get to all there is to do in Sedona. Basically all we've done is showimg us we want to come back to red rock country.
