We some how thought as we drove along the tree covered country side that we would come back out to more 'desert' terrain. WRONG! We kept dropping in altitude - 2, 000 feet of change in altitude.
The descent was harrowing for me. I am grateful I am not driving. Even without that you're struck by the sheer beauty of this very large canyon.
What is refreshing is the low humidity. Yes, it is hot but tolerable. This afternoon we're going to look around.
