It was late as we made our way to Holbrook. I was able to catch the rain coming down in long fingers and the tail end of the sunset. We wondered aloud what we might see as the new day began.
I took a shower this morning and as I was walking back to our RV site, the vista with the mesas was added to the changing topography.
We took the morning to go to the Petrified Forest National Park which included The Painted Desert and the Bad Lands. Nothing prepared me for the colors, alien-looking topography, heat and grandure.
After a quick lunch we began our journey onto Flagstaff. All was going well until the ladder in the middle of the road came into view. There was not enough time or room to avoid it, not with 50 feet of vehicles moving at 40 mph.
Fortunately no damage was done to Barbie. She has kept on like the cutie she has been.
We saw in the distance the mountains associated with Arizona. What was surprising to us was that we thought Flagstaff was a desert town. It is snd it's not - lots of trees - it's more alpine. We climbed 7, 000 feet getting there. Since our perception of Flagstaff was wrong we didn't know what to expect going to Sedona.
